Tiger Stripe Flightsuit

Tiger stripe (tigerstripe) flightsuit. Believed to have been worn by Marine pilots, and manufactured in Japan during the Vietnam war, this is a nice piece. The flight suit has a total of 9 zippered pockets; the legs have zippers for expansion at the boot area, the cuffs have zippers too. The inside neck is stamped 38R. There are more numbers next to that C-3973 577(?). There is a tiny hole and stain, at the back of the neck and under the collar. The crotch area at the base of the zipper has pulled apart about 1 inch. I have not attempted to repair any of these, but it would be easy to do. The buttons on the waist take up tabs are all there. The chest measures 42 inches; the inseam measures 35 inches. I do not see any other holes or tears. The garment is in excellent condition.

WW2 U.S. Marine (USMC) reversible camouflage set

WW2 U.S. Marine (USMC) reversible camouflage set. Jacket is in excellent condition and is stamped 40 in the neck. Some of the black finish is worn off the right chest snap. The jacket retains all of the metal U.S. Marine Corps snaps. The jacket has some light fading. The jacket has no tears, snags or holes. The pants have a small pull about 3 millimeters long. The pants have some light stains on the shin/knee area, and appear to come out easily if washed. I leave that to you. The crotch has 2 button, that appear to be replacements. Below that are 2 U.S. Marine Corps snaps. The jacket and pants are a very, very close match in fade. The pants show slightly more use if inspected closely. The pants are marked 36(?)-32. The pants measure about 34 in the waist and 32 long.

South Vietnamese Airborne camouflage uniform

South Vietnamese Airborne camouflage uniform-first pattern. Advanced collectors will recognize this as the first pattern, sometimes called “pinks” modeled after the WW2 British brush pattern. This camouflage pattern is considered to be one of the rarest and most sought after of all of the Vietnam era camo patterns. I encounter several hundred tiger stripe pieces to every one piece of this pattern. It is extremely rare to find this pattern in any condition, much less a large size. The jacket has the Vietnamese silk woven Airborne division insignia on the left shoulder. Over the right breast is the Vietnamese silk woven wings. Over the left breast pocket are the US wings and the name Strub. On the left pocket is the Vietnamese silk woven pathfinder badge. I have not researched him and have no history on this uniform. The jacket has two breast pockets, with covered buttons; the typical epaulets, reinforced shoulders, and elbows. The jacket is in excellent condition. It has two tiny slits about ˝ centimeter each, in the rear left kidney area of the jacket. The jacket has about a 42 inch chest. The pants have a 30 inch waist and a 28 inch inseam. The pants are hemmed at the bottom and appear to have about another 2 inches of cloth. The do not appear to have been modified. The left rear pocket has a repair. The pants have a reinforced seat, 2 rear pockets, 2 front pockets and reinforced knees. There is a tiny hole about 1 centimeter on the left leg. I have not tried to repair that. A super set and super rare. Fade patterns on the pants and jacket match nicely. The jacket bears a nice quartermaster’s stamp.
